An access log is a text file containing an extensive list of all the files accessed by your website visitors. All of the files that were requested in one way or another will be included, so when you have a PHP script application and a website visitor opens just the home page, for instance, you might find numerous files in the log. This is because there are things on the home page which are embedded - parts of other web pages, pictures, etcetera. All these files will be listed in the access log, so that you can get a complete picture of the way your site performs. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are sometimes called "raw data" too. An access log provides the name of each and every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, along with the user’s IP address, browser and Operating System. Additional information, including the referrer site, is usually included as well. A log file may be processed by various desktop apps for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics supplied by your web server.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia CP includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. Once you sign in to your cloud hosting account and visit this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to every domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you will see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and view it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantaneously, so if you no longer need one, you may stop it with simply a mouse click from the same section of the CP. You'll still be able to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our sophisticated hosting platform shall create access logs for every site hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, assuming that this feature is permitted. All domain names and subdomains that you have will be listed in the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, that we supply with all the accounts, so if you would like our system to start generating logs for any of them, you should just click on the small button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You can stop this function at any time by following the very same steps. You can find a Download link for each log in the very same section of the Control Panel, so you may save the content generated by our system in .txt format with no more than a mouse click. An existing log file could be downloaded even after the option has been deactivated, so you will still be able to check out the data which has already been generated.
